As part of Black Histories and Futures month at Pathways, the Pathways Kingston team will remember a dear friend of our program Judith Brown who passed away this past October. Judith was an educator, advocate, trustee and a tireless advocate for African and Caribbean communities at both Queens and in the community.
In the earlier days of Pathways to Education, Judith and the Afro-Caribe Community Foundation of Kingston invited our program out to the Taste of Africa and Caribbean annual event to celebrate, connect and learn about African and Caribbean food and culture. Judith was ever so welcoming and truly inspirational on how she empowered our students to get involved in the event. Students always looked forward to it and we had lots of students volunteering year after year. Judith was an educator, advocate, trustee, and a tireless advocate for African and Caribbean communities at both Queens and in the community.
To honour Judith’s legacy, we organized a Taste of Africa and the Caribbean at Weller on February 25th and 27th at programming where students could connect and learn with African and Caribbean foods and culture.
